چکیده

Most illustration systems need a lot of user strokes to generate natural-looking pen-and-ink illustrations. In order. to reduce the number of user strokes necessary, we propose a new method for pen-and-ink illustrations using a stroke morphing concept. For this, we introduce a general stroke morphing procedure, which consists of both jlow-oriented morphing and shape-oriented morphing. Using this morphing technique, we can make more natural-looking pen-and-ink illustration with fewer user strokes. This work can be applied to generate simplijed pictures for dictionary typesetting. The main purpose of this paper is to describe this method, which requires fewer user strokes than other previous methods. Experimental results are given in the$nal section.

Pen-and-ink textures for real-time rendering

Simulation of a pen-and-ink illustration style in a realtime rendering system is a challenging computer graphics problem. Tonal art maps (TAMs) were recently suggested as a solution to this problem. Unfortunately, only the hatching aspect of pen-and-ink media was addressed thus far. We extend the TAM approach and enable representation of arbitrary textures. We generate TAM images by distributin...

Automatic Pen-and-Ink Illustration of Tone, Gloss, And Texture

We present a method for automatically depicting material appearance using pen and ink. Starting from a classical computer graphics representation – color map, normal map, illumination, etc. – we introduce an abstraction layer to bridge between this unsuited input and generic control parameters of pen-and-ink systems, such as primitive shape, size and density. This layer is made of parameters, b...

Human interaction with digital ink : legibility measurement and structural analysis

Literature suggests that it is possible to design and implement pen-based computer interfaces that resemble the use of pen and paper. These interfaces appear to allow users freedom in expressing ideas and seem to be familiar and easy to use. Different ideas have been put forward concerning this type of interface, however despite the commonality of aims and problems faced, there does not appear ...

duces images in the manner of traditional styles such as painting or drawing, is proving to be a useful alternative to conventional volume or surface rendering in medical visualization. Typically, such illustrations use simple lines to demonstrate medical shapes and features, omitting a great deal of detail. They frequently highlight the most relevant information better than glossy, colored ima...
